The choice of the right spindle is decisive for success or failure in the machining process. That's why spindles from Step-Tec differ in their design in the following three main applications:

Production
The process reliability required on production machines is only possible with spindles designed accordingly. The broad range of constant output, the low nominal speed, the full torque commencing from as low as 1 rpm and the very broad power and speed range from 10 to 70 kW and from 18 – 24,000 rpm respectively, are only a few of the challenges that must be faced when developing production spindles.  In addition, the shortest chip-to-chip times are demanded, which results in unclamping cycles close to 200 ms with up to 7 tool changes per minute. Production spindles are generally used in 3 shifts and have a simple, inexpensive, rugged design with a long service life. The high dynamics are achieved by using synchronous motors (PMM).
